Irma Logistics Update 9/12/17

Irma has weakened into a Post-Tropical Cyclone and is moving across southern Georgia and eastern Alabama today. Assessment of damages and recovery efforts have started in Florida but supply chain operations continue to be hindered. Logistics operations across Southern states are expected to continue to be impacted with delays possible as the storm moves inland.

PORTS

The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) has announced various port openings in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Port of Miami - Port is open, however, marine traffic will be restricted until this afternoon. Truck and gate operations have been cleared at Seaboard Marine container terminal. Truck and gate operations will be closed today at POMTOC and SFCT container terminals.

Port Everglades - USCG is completing surveys so ships can begin re-entering the port later this morning. 

JAXPORT - All JAXPORT Offices and terminals remain closed today as USCG assesses the condition of the harbor and port facilities. 

Ports of Savannah & Brunswick - Georgia Port Authority's critical workforce will be returning this morning to prepare the terminal for cargo operations. Reopening of port and river channel are not yet confirmed. Truck gates are expected to resume operations Wednesday morning. 

Port of Charleston - Open. Gates and container marshalling yards opened this morning and are fully operational for the receipt and delivery of loads, empties and refrigerated cargo.  


AIRPORTS

Miami International Airport - Open with limited operations

Tampa International Airport - Limited flights resume today with build-up to full schedule in the coming days. 

Atlanta (Hartsfield-Jackson) International Airport - Open with limited flight operations resuming. 

Charleston International Airport - Limited flights resuming. 

RAIL

CSX - Assessment and recovery efforts are underway.

Norfolk Southern - No further update. Freight embargoed in impacted area. 

TRUCKING

Some carriers do not have updates available on the web. Therefore, our team has compiled the latest operational information below.

A. Duie Pyle  In anticipation of Hurricane Irma’s impact on Florida, our Partner, Southeastern Freight Lines (SEFL) is currently unable to pick up or deliver shipments serviced by their Jacksonville, Ocala, Tampa, Orlando, Ft. Myers, Miami, Ft Lauderdale and West Palm Beach service centers. Other operations may be impacted as cities respond to local and federal evacuations and as SEFL manages the safety of their employees. If you have freight moving to or from this region and have questions, please contact our Customer Service department at 1−800−523−5020.−523−5020.
AAA Cooper Based on the current weather information and evacuation orders, the facilities listed below will remain closed today. Jacksonville, 32209; Ocala, 34474; Orlando, 32824; Tampa, 33637; Ft Myers, 33905; Ft Pierce, 34951; Pompano, 33069; Miami, 33178; Albany (GA) 31705; Dothan (AL) 36303; Tallahassee 32303; Savannah (GA) 31408. All of the Florida terminals have stopped accepting pickups. No freight will be moving into or out of Florida at this time.

Dayton Freight Lines Our Partner, Southeastern Freight Lines has reported that the Puerto Rico Service Center is closed due to Hurricane Irma. Effective Thursday September, 7, an embargo is in effect for Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Fort Meyers, Orlando, Tampa, Ocala, Jacksonville, Valdosta (GA), Savannah (GA) and Albany (GA) service centers are closed. Due to the severity of the storm, no pickups will be accepted for shipments that are destined for one of these service centers. Other SEFL operations may be impacted as cities respond to local and federal evacuations and as they manage the safety of their employees. Estes Express

Suspended all pickups for freight destined for Florida and any line-haul in or out of Florida or Georgia. All Florida terminals are closed in addition to a few others in Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina. (Please see the list below.) Further delays and closings will be posted as necessary throughout the days to come.
While our San Juan, PR, terminal is operational, much of the island is still without power. Our container freight station in Jacksonville, FL, is currently closed, so service between Puerto Rico and the U.S. mainland will be suspended until further notice. For additional information regarding specific Puerto Rico shipments, please contact your local Estes terminal.

FedEx Freight FedEx is closely monitoring Tropical Storm Irma. Our contingency plans are in place and, as always, our priorities are the safety and well-being of our team members and minimizing the effects of potential storms on service. FedEx will be prepared to provide service to the best of our ability in areas affected by the storm and as local conditions allow.  Please see Fedex.com for list of zip codes affected. 
Hercules Freight Not a service area.
New England Motor Freight  Not a service area. No embargo on interline freight. 
New Penn Motor Express  New Penn will continue to pick up and consolidate Puerto Rico shipments as normal. Shipping lanes out of New Jersey are open and we will be sailing as usual this weekend to Puerto Rico. Assessment of the situation in Puerto Rico will dictate delivery to the island.  No further update provided. 
Old Dominion 

Please note that some areas are temporarily unable to be serviced due to severe weather conditions. If you have questions or concerns please contact Customer Service at 1-800-235-5569. Visit the Old Dominion website for zip codes currently impacted.
